Collection: Tumble Dryers

There are many ways to dry wet clothes, but only one product dries everything. One product that dries gently and energy-efficiently, whether it's your most delicate garments or your children's wet overalls. We are, of course, talking about a drying cabinet. There are certain types of clothing that cannot be tumble-dried, but clothing with a crossed-out drying cabinet in the washing instructions does not yet exist. That's why NIMO continues to produce drying cabinets for everyday use. XARO is the exclusive importer of Nimoverken's drying cabinets for the entire Benelux.

What is a drying cabinet?

A drying cabinet (also known as a clothes dryer, cabinet dryer, or

drying cabin) is a household appliance used to dry wet clothes, towels, bedding, and other materials without the risk of shrinkage or damage often associated with traditional tumble dryers. This is because drying cabinets do not have moving parts that can damage clothes, unlike traditional tumble dryers.

Drying cabinets have a drying mechanism in the form of a cabinet, in which the material to be dried is spread out on racks, hung, or otherwise placed. Drying cabinets come in various types and sizes and use different technologies to complete the drying process. The most energy-efficient drying cabinets are equipped with heat pump technology, which reuses and returns the heat generated by the drying process into the cabin, instead of discharging this heat into the outside air. As a result, heat pump drying cabinets consume less energy and are a more sustainable alternative to traditional drying cabinets.

Buying a suitable tumble dryer

We'd be happy to explain the different types of tumble dryers so you know which one best suits your needs.

If you want to know more about tumble dryers in general, you can consult our blog. In our blog 'What is a tumble dryer?', we share useful information about different types of tumble dryers, how they work, the advantages of certain technologies such as heat pump tumble dryers, and handy tips for using and maintaining tumble dryers.

How does a drying cabinet work?

The operation of a drying cabinet can vary depending on the type of drying cabinet, but generally the process follows a few basic steps:

  1. Placement of the material to be dried: The material to be dried is placed in the drying cabinet. This can be spread out on shelves, hung on hooks or otherwise placed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Selection of drying settings: The user selects the desired drying settings based on the type of material, the desired dryness level and other preferences. This may include drying time, temperature and air circulation, among others.
  3. Start of the drying process: After setting the desired settings, the drying process is started by switching on the drying cabinet. The drying cabinet begins to circulate warm air in the cabinet, around the material to be dried.
  4. Evaporation of moisture: The warm air absorbs moisture from the material to be dried, causing the moisture to evaporate. The moist air is then discharged from the drying cabinet.
  5. Heat reuse (if applicable): Some drying cabinets, such as drying cabinets with heat pump technology, reuse the heat generated by the drying process. This heat is returned to the cabinet, making it more energy efficient and wasting less heat.
  6. Completion of the drying process: Once the drying process is complete according to the set drying time or dryness level, the drying cabinet switches itself off and the dried material can be removed.

How long does a tumble dryer last?

Generally, a tumble dryer is estimated to last between 8 and 12 years on average. However, the lifespan of a tumble dryer can vary depending on several factors, such as the model, usage, maintenance, and environmental conditions.

How much energy does a tumble dryer use?

The energy consumption of a tumble dryer can vary depending on several factors, such as the model, size, efficiency of the technologies used, and the settings applied during the drying process. In general, a tumble dryer uses electricity to heat the incoming air, blow the air through the drum, and remove moisture from clothes.

The energy consumption of a tumble dryer is usually expressed in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and is stated on the appliance's energy label. The higher the energy label, the more energy-efficient the tumble dryer is. Modern tumble dryers can incorporate various energy-efficient technologies, such as heat pump technology, which can significantly reduce energy consumption compared to traditional tumble dryers.

At XARO, we offer a wide range of drying cabinets, varying from models with the highest energy label A+++ to models with energy label A+. Our drying cabinets with energy label A+++ are among the most energy-efficient on the market and can help to minimize energy consumption. These drying cabinets use advanced technologies, such as heat pump technology, to optimize energy consumption and ensure an efficient and environmentally friendly drying process.

In addition, we also offer drying cabinets with energy label A+ for customers who are looking for an energy-efficient option but may have a slightly lower budget. Although these models are slightly less efficient than the drying cabinets with the highest energy label A+++, they still meet strict energy-efficiency standards and offer a good balance between performance and energy consumption.

XARO strives to offer its customers a wide range of choices so that they can choose the drying cabinet that best suits their needs in terms of energy efficiency, budget, and functionality. We also always encourage conscious use of energy consumption of household appliances and to consult the manufacturer's manual for optimizing the use of the drying cabinet and minimizing energy consumption.
